Bayede! launches Wine Café
Motivated by a desire for excellence Bayede! has launched its new wine café on the tranquil Eikendal Vineyards. Bayede! meaning “hail to the king” was officially opened by HM King Goodwill Zwelithini KaBhekuzulu to wine and dine prominent guests on its opening night.
Co-owner and Chef of the restaurant, Mark Radnay firmly believes in flavour, flavour, flavour with the menu showcasing locally sourced ingredients from the surrounding area. The menu changes weekly, with a twist added to old South African favourites. Expect to find a traditional Caesar salad taking on an African flair, with biltong replacing bacon and anchovies swapped for snoek pate (R56). Other delectable starters include Rooikrans smoked snoek quiche with apricot chutney and side salad (R54) and Beef Carpaccio dressed with a rosemary-honey vinaigrette and sweet potato crisps (R54).
Main course options leave your mouth watering with Fresh Cape Salmon on new potatoes and sauce Vierge (R88) or Char-grilled rump with herbed polenta and onion marmalade (R94).
Vegetarians are not ignored and are offered a delicious Avocado, artichoke and goats cheese salad with balsamic vinaigrette (R56) or Homemade sweet potato gnocchi with asparagus, walnuts and gorgonzola crème (R58/R68). But if you prefer a combination of any of the other ingredients on the menu Chef Mark will gladly whip you up a speciality.
Forget about not wanting to order any dessert and indulge in the Decadent dark chocolate-espresso torte with merlot poached pears & cardamom parfait (R48). As the Chef has a sweet tooth himself you will find his desserts pure bliss that will satisfy any craving.
The menu layout displays a wine pairing with each of the dishes, making it easier to choose from the wide range of wines on offer.
Bayede! offers the perfect experience for the whole family. Enjoy a great plate of food or picnic basket with a chilled glass of wine while sitting under the shade of one of our ancient trees. Relax as the kids play on the lawn or go trout fishing in our dam; and listen to cool jazz on a lazy summer Sunday’s afternoon. Allow the breathtaking beauty of the surrounding vineyards and Helderberg mountains to unwind you and make you long to return.
A private dining area is also available and the entire restaurant or 65-seater conference facility can also be booked out for private functions and weddings.
Opening times: Wednesday – Sunday for lunch and Thursday and Friday for dinner bookings.
