Welcome to 1800° - Cape Town's premier grill room located at the Cape Royale Luxury Hotel and Residence's, with its stunning outdoor piazza in the heart of Cape Town's trendy Green Point.
The name of the restaurant refers to the signature grill, imported from New York and the first of its kind in South Africa. The grill literally cooks steak at a temperature of 1800° degrees Fahrenheit, and whilst only the freshest ingredients are sourced for our seafood, it is 1800°'s succulent meat dishes that take centre stage.
The extensive range of signature steak and meat dishes are served with a choice of sauces from around the world.
You can further enhance the flavour of your meat with an impressive variety of imported, hand-harvested, gourmet salts from around the world.
Diners are spoilt for choice with over 100 expertly selected local and rare international wines on offer. Ideal for the most discerning patron, 1800° offers both charming and sophisticated ambience that emphasises their passion for excellence, showcasing presentation, innovation and outstanding service. 1800° is no ordinary grill room!
The focus throughout is on fresh produce and whole, pure foods prepared and served with excellence. In addition to the selection of steak and meat dishes, which includes veal cutlet, double cut lamb steak, and lamb shoulder slow-braised in soft Moroccan spices, the menu offers a wide variety of fish such as imported salmon, shellfish, poultry and vegetarian options.
With a stylish and contemporary feel, 1800° boasts a culinary offering, rich with international flavours and is set to attract local businessmen and professionals and other discerning restaurant goers in search of a refined, consistent and high quality offering.
Whilst Head Chef, Lindsay Venn, selects only the freshest seafood, meat is the star of the show at 1800°.
"Our intention has been to create a sophisticated environment that will appeal equally to international visitors and Cape Town's discerning restaurant patrons. The décor, ambience, food quality and preparation have all been designed to establish 1800° as the benchmark in Cape Town dining", he says.
Owner, Paschal Phelan, brings with him many years of experience in the meat industry in Ireland, and under his direction, his team ensures the best quality by inspecting suppliers' farms to maintain the highest standard of their meat offering. The restaurant's succulent beef and other selected meats are grass reared and then grain fed for a short period to enhance the flavour and ensure tenderness. It is then matured to perfection in the grill room's temperature controlled storage.
