Run by a husband and wife team, Tim and Di Savory, with the assistance of their dedicated staff. The property was purchased by Fred Maud (Di’s Father) over 40 years ago, when he fell in love with the view of the river and hills and dales.

Hills and Dales Accommodation is a relaxed, country and home style venue, catering for each individual guests requirements from peaceful getaways to conferences, parties, team building events and paintball in the natural terrain.
Enjoy the unique experience of our fully equipped and serviced, self-catering and B&B accommodation, with beautiful views overlooking the river and hills. Sleep to the sound of the river rapids. Situated on 23 hectares of rolling countryside in the tourism supply zone for the World Heritage Site, The Cradle of Humankind.
The property is adjacent to the Lanseria Airport providing a peaceful getaway 40 minutes from the hustle and bustle of the environs of Johannesburg and Sandton.
The farm is located in an area that teams with all sorts of public activities from ballooning and fishing to elephant riding and wildlife parks. Birdlife abounds.
The accommodation is protected by two, twenty-two strand, alarmed electric fences around the 23 ha property, with a metre of anti-dig on the inside of the internal fence. At a suitable time, an infra red passive security system is turned on to protect the surrounds of the buildings and vehicles. If this system is activated, floodlights light up the area blinding intruders and enabling us to react.
Hills and Dales is suitable for mid-week overnight accommodation for travellers from Lanseria Airport with courier services available, visiting business people looking for accommodation in the countryside away from the hustle and bustle of town, people looking for a quiet break and wanting to do their own catering, and people wanting a base to travel from to visit The Cradle of Humankind, Sterkfontein, Wonder Caves and Hartbeespoort Dam. Party or office groups, bachelor parties, hen parties, family reunions and the like are accommodated by our party venues. Birders will enjoy.
Hills and Dales is not suitable for people wanting restaurant-pub facilities, a holiday resort - especially for children - people wanting 5 Star Sun City-type accommodation with all the bells and whistles, people wanting reception facilities with personalized and constant attention and people who are scared of small dogs.Request A Quote

Dabchick Self-catering (1)
Downstairs accommodation, the Dabchick sleeps a couple or single. The Dabchick has one ensuite bedroom with a double bed, shower and toilet and bay window overlooking the river. It has a covered verandah overlooking the river and comes with a dual purpose braai/brazier if you want to have a braai on the verandah or sit around a brazier in the evening. Wifi, carports, DSTV, fans, heaters and complimentary coffee and tea tray.
Hoopoe, Kingfisher and Weaver Rooms (3)
These rooms are used for overflow when there is a party group booking for Hlala Lapha or Jabulani, which cannot be fully accommodated in the other self-catering units. They are situated in the main homestead and have two separate toilets, a shower and bath. Couples wanting private accommodation should book into the self-catering units. Wifi, carports, DSTV, fans, heaters and complimentary coffee and tea tray.

Starling Self-catering (1)
Upstairs accommodation, the Starling has a spacious enclosed verandah leading onto a deck overlooking the river. There are camp chairs and a weber to use on the deck for a braai where it is lovely to sit and have a sundowner. The master bedroom has two single beds or a big bed and the spare room has two single beds or a big bed. In addition there are bunkbeds in the spacious lounge. Additional beds can be added to the lounge if required. It has a dining room, which seats six, and a fully stocked kitchen. The garage is situated underneath the Starling and has a door leading into the Starling staircase up to the verandah. Wifi, carports, DSTV, fans, heaters and complimentary coffee and tea tray.
Swallow Self-catering (1)
Downstairs accommodation, the Swallow sleeps a couple or single. The Swallow has one ensuite bedroom with a queensize bed, shower and toilet and bay window overlooking the river. It has a small verandah overlooking the river and comes with a dual purpose braai/brazier if you want to have a braai on the verandah or sit around a brazier in the evening. Wifi, carports, DSTV, fans, heaters and complimentary coffee and tea tray.
Hadeda Self-catering (1)
Upstairs accommodation, the Hadeda has an outside verandah overlooking the river. There are camp chairs and a weber to use on the verandah for a braai where it is lovely to sit and have a sundowner. It has two bedrooms with either single beds or big beds, along with bunk beds in the one bedroom and an extra bed in the lounge. The garage is situated underneath the Hadeda and leads into the Hadeda Staircase up to the lounge. Wifi, carports, DSTV, fans, heaters and complimentary coffee and tea tray.
Jabulani Venue (1)
Jabulani is situated in a rural environment, overlooks Lanseria airport to the far right and has a lovely view of the Jukskei River and open countryside. It has loads of ambiance and is an extremely popular venue for parties, team events or business meetings and small conferences. The event area is 12 metres by 14 metres, including a 4 metre deck and plunge pool. It is a perfect, gathering place, which is private and secure. There are folding wooden and glass doors across the front of the venue, which can be partially or fully opened or closed to keep out the cold and the warmth from the fireplace in. Jabulani is fully set up for guests to cater for themselves or we can cater i.e. teas, lunches and dinners depending on your event and requirements. Guests have exclusive use of Jabulani, two bedrooms, which comprise of 8 bunkbeds in each and sleeps up to 32 in total, 4 toilets and 4 showers. There is a stone bar and fireplace, indoor braai and plenty of teak table tops for food preparation and serving food. There is a fridge and kitchen sink, along with microwave, toaster, kettle, hot plates and spit area for use by guests. Crockery, glasses and cutlery are provided. There is a 59” flat screen TV in Jabulani with all the Super Sport DSTV channels available to watch the sport of your choice. This can be used for Powerpoint presentations. Whiteboard and flipchart are provided for business meetings and conference.
Fish Eagle Lodge (1)
2 ensuite bedrooms, the Lodge is situated in lovely gardens, overlooking the hills. Both rooms have queensize beds, one bedroom has a double shower and toilet and one bedroom has a big shower, bath and toilet. There is a guest toilet, fully stocked, open-plan kitchen with dining area, lounge with fireplace and folding glass doors leading onto a big comfortable deck. On the deck there is a weber and a gas braai. The deck is lovely to sit on and enjoy a sundowner whilst listening to the guinea fowl and other bird or wildlife noises! Attractive, cosy and comfortable accommodation suitable for 4 people, a couple, family group or business people. Wifi, carports, DSTV, fans, fireplace and complimentary coffee and tea tray.
Hlala Lapha Venue (1)
Hlala Lapha is surrounded by trees, pools, beautiful gardens and rolling lawns with a lovely view. It has a magical air about it in the evenings and is a very popular party, family gathering, team building and golf tour venue. It incorporates a flagstone extension under the trees with big braai/potjie and spit area along with a teak dance floor in the middle and soft spots. There is also a big weber, other braai equipment and braai utensils. Hlala Lapha is fully set up for guests to cater for themselves or we can cater i.e. teas, lunches and dinners depending on your event and requirements. Guests have exclusive use of Hlala Lapha for playing music and partying to their hearts content. There is an under-counter bar fridge in the lapa to put drinks in. We set up the braziers for you to use but otherwise you need to supply your own wood. These are lovely to stand around when the evening turns cold. There is a gas heater in the Lapa. We provide good quality plastic plates, beer mugs, shooter glasses, salad and snack bowls and dustbins for your convenience. Dishwash, soap and towels are provided at the lapa basin should you need it. All bedding requirements, towels and soap are provided. You will be placed in the Starling and Hadeda units with beds and bunkbeds in the lounges depending on numbers. Overflow of people into the Dabchick, Swallow, Weaver, Hoopoe and Kingfisher rooms if numbers require us to do so. There is good gas braai equipment in the lapa, which is good for making breakfasts. Lighting is perfect with spots on the cooking area that can be turned on and off. Garden lighting can be turned on in the lapa to light up the garden in the evening. There is a 52 inch TV screen in the lapa with all the Super Sport DSTV channels available to watch the sport of your choice.
