Orange Blue Restaurant, Restaurant Somerset West

Very few places have the character of this idiosyncratic French bistro run in a most personable fashion by Stéphane and Emmy. The decor is colourful, eclectic and more than a little bohemian in the well-worn house (filled with his wrought-iron works).

Owners are real foodies,  the blackboard menu changes daily or order dishes like Chef salad (chicken livers with confites oranges),Navarin d’agneau (slowly cooked lamb neck), chicken Provencal and order ahead for proper bouillabaisse, terrine of fois gras, home smoked Norwegian salmon. Flavours are honest and robust, the place is so authentic it’s nearly an anti-restaurant.
