Whale Cottage Plettenberg Bay is a stylish beach villa with views over the Indian Ocean and onto the Robberg World Heritage Site. The property is 800 m from Robberg Beach where guests may view whales and dolphins. We have three sister guest houses which are Whale Cottage Camps Bay, Whale Cottage Franschhoek and Whale Cottage Hermanus.All seven of the rooms are sea facing and have their own terrace. Each of the four downstairs rooms open onto the pool terrace. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms; some with a shower only and some with a bath and shower. There are flat screen TVs with DStv, air-conditioners, hairdryers, heated towel rails, electric blankets and CD players. We offer secure parking on the property.
Breakfast buffets are enjoyed on the sea facing pool terrace, weather permitting. An honesty bar and a tea and coffee tray are available all day. Guests have use of free Wi-Fi Internet access and we offer an airport transfer on request, as well as tailor-made tours of the area. We can also assist you in making restaurant and car rental bookings. It is safe to walk to the beach as the property is located in a quiet cul-de-sac. Various bird varieties can be seen and heard from the guest house.
Plettenberg Bay is a prestigious town on the Garden Route which is known for whale and dolphin watching. It has two elephant parks and a bird park in close proximity. The area offers opportunities for sailing, kayaking and canoeing; a safari experience in a game park with drives in an open jeep; two golf courses, and wellness treatments. The town was discovered by Portugese sailors in the 15th century and its first name was Bahia Formosa. In 1778 the Dutch East India Company claimed ownership of the bay and it was renamed Plettenberg Bay after the governor of the Cape, Baron van Plettenberg. In 1831, a whaling station was set up on Beacon Island which later became the Beacon Island Hotel.Request A Quote
