Updated, funky décor breathes new life into The Grande Roche Hotel. The Grande Roche Hotel in Paarl is showing a new and more modern face. In celebration of 20 successful years in the hospitality industry the hotel is undergoing a décor makeover, bringing a breath of fresh air into its historical setting. The new look has been carefully selected to complement the heritage of the buildings, exuding a comfortable elegance.'We realize that we have to be competitive in this fast-paced world. Injecting new life into the property is one of our long-term goals and this more modern look brings us in line with world trends. As South Africa’s only member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World group, the updated image shows our guests that an innovative outlook is a compliment to our proud heritage.' To date, 13 of the 18 Terrace Suites have been decked out in this elegant new livery and the neutral colour scheme is crisp and sophisticated. Plush couches ask to be settled into and comfort is the key. All modern amenities have a sculptured look and allow the guest to work or relax as the need may be.
With a splash of colour here and there, the rooms show off their airy spaciousness and perfectly complement their location overlooking the valley. En-suite bathrooms are inviting in their upgraded décor. Unfussy, they speak of elegance with granite vanity slabs and the most up-to-date accessories.
Interior decorator Juanita Miller, of Paisley Rose Interiors, supplied the soft furnishings, lighting and mirrors. Her brief was to create an environment where leisure and business complemented each other. Opting for classic fabrics with a modern twist, the combination of neutrals highlighted with rich shades, enhances the natural elegance of the suites.
Add to that the stunning views that each suite offers, and it is as if you have escaped to your own personal country estate. The suites are designed to make you feel at home and this is emphasized with the new look.
Taking into account the comfort that guests are familiar with and the trends in hotel design, the designers have taken great pains with the look of the rooms and opted for simplicity and minimalism. The individually named suites retain their uniqueness.

Honeymoon Suite (1)
The Honeymoon Suite has a king-size bedroom, a bathroom with a double shower and Jacuzzi, a lounge, a private sun terrace and a separate enclosed patio. Terrace Suites consist of lounges and bedrooms with king-size or twin beds, separate bathrooms and under-floor heating. Duplex Suites (5)
We transformed the old slave quarters on the estate into five Duplex Suites. The ground floor of each suite has a spacious lounge, where extra beds can be made up to accommodate families. Upstairs the large bedrooms boast twin or king-size beds with views across the gardens. The bathrooms have separate shower and bath facilities.
