A unique rural atmosphere distinguishes Montagu as one of the best kept late Victorian agricultural villages in the Western Cape. The many attractions and the fact that Montagu is centrally situated makes it a sought after tourist town and perfect base from where the countryside can be explored. There are a number of hiking trails in the area as well as opportunities for rock climbers. The hot springs just outside of town are very popular.
