Alan and Lorna warmly welcome you to their Cape Town backpackers and riding centre, Fat Pony. This is a family-run, child and biker-friendly farm house hostel in the Western Cape Winelands. We offer airport shuttles, free Wi-Fi, comfortable and airy dorms and grassy camping just 30 minutes from Cape Town City Centre.Pitch your tent and enjoy camping near a grassy dam among palms, pine and guava trees. Enjoy hot showers, ablutions, water points and electricity. Or relax in one of the En-suite Dormitories. Fat Pony has dorms and Mini Dorms, perfect for large and small groups. The Mini Dorms have heating for cool winter months and private entrances. All bed linens are provided.
Cook your meals in a fully equipped farmhouse kitchen with a log fire or braai outside. Relax on comfortable sofas in the large room with a big-screen DStv and a computer with Internet. Free Wi-Fi is available covering most of the farm. There are towels and a laundry room with washer and dryer available to hire for a small fee.
Hire a bike and wine taste your way through scenic Cape Winelands. Make new friends while joining in on a riding lesson, pony trail or workshop - we have special discounts for guests.
Nearby activities include Butterfly World, Dirtopia an off-road mountain biking and hiking centre, golfing, quad biking and paintball. Wine tasting along the Stellenbosch and Franschhoek wine routes is a great day excursion. Venture into Cape Town to explore Table Mountain with walks, hikes, climbs and abseiling. Tour around the museums, sandy beaches and enjoy a variety of water sports. Take a trip to the cinema, pubs, clubs and restaurants of Cape Town.

Relax in a comfortable, airy dorm with single beds and double bunks. The rooms have lockable trunks for belongings and en-suite bathrooms with showers. Bed linen is provided, and towels and the communal laundry room is available to hire. All rooms are no smoking.

Double room with en-suite shower, heating and wardrobe. All linen is provided and guests also have use of the communal laundry room.
